Liza Solares was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and is no stranger to the challenges facing the urban family. Both her parents and grandparents began a family tradition of serving families burdened with socioeconomic factors that often led to addiction, family violence, poor school attendance, poverty, and crime. Each generation made a commitment to matters of community safety and individual well-being. As a Puerto Rican woman, Liza has been in ministry for 25 years serving the Hispanic/Latino family in the US and abroad. Being connected to families has shaped her vision and fueled her passion to serve. In her travels to Latin American countries, Liza has managed food distributions, and medical camps, provided medicine for hospitals, and facilitated self-esteem and women empowerment conferences for thousands. To date, Liza has coordinated humanitarian efforts to provide 400,000 meals to families across the US. During the pandemic, Liza coordinated disaster response efforts in Louisiana, Nairobi Kenya, and Honduras ensuring aid was received by approximately 25,000 people. She also created a program that assisted over 1,500 senior citizens with wellness check-ins and connected them with resources in the DFW area as she led efforts for United MegaCare, the humanitarian arm of T.D. Jakes Ministries. Today, Liza works for Gloo as the Multicultural Ministry Network Team Lead. Her goal is to help bring resources to ministry leaders of multiethnic backgrounds serving under-resourced communities.
