VCI celebrated twenty years of ministry this summer (2023). Hala is a speaker, author and film producer. She has taught on several long-running television programs and social media series, and finds great joy in mentoring the next generation of women leaders in Egypt and the Middle East. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the American University in Cairo. She and her husband, Greg, live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas.

What is the ministry challenge keeping you up at night?

Audience attention span is becoming shorter. We continually need to find creative ways to keep them engaged and interested in the message of Christ.

What is the greatest hope for God’s work in 2023 you’re dreaming about?

Greatest hope is that the political and economic crises in the world, specifically the Middle East (our area of focus), will cause people to seek out Jesus. This happened before during the Arab Spring (2011-2013). We're praying to see it happen again in 2023, especially since today it is easier than ever before for people to learn about Jesus and have many of their questions answered through the media.

What is a non-ministry activity that brings you joy and energy?

Artwork (painting, collages). Being in nature.

What are the top 1-3 essentials for the Church in America to address to reach those who are spiritually open, but not yet following Jesus?

Creativity, superior communication through visual and music arts to reach those who are not ready to go to church. Authenticity in communicating the message of Christ--don't water it down to make it palatable. Love, love, love people. Invest in relationships. Be hospitable, helpful and kind. Live the message of Jesus, don't just preach it.
