Mark Martin
Dr. Mark Martin currently serves as the President and CEO of Martin & Associates Strategic Management Consulting and is also the former Director of the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities for the Maryland Department of Health. Dr. Martin also served as the Maryland Department of Health’s Equity Branch Chief Officer for the COVID-19 Mass Vaccinations Planning and Response. Dr. Martin brings a combined 27 years of professional experience in community and faith-based partnerships, public health, private sector healthcare, and financial services. Dr. Martin earned a Ph.D. in Leadership and Change from Antioch University where his seminal research focused on the role of servant leadership characteristics in developing an environment of empathic care in primary care setting. Dr. Martin also earned an MBA and MHA from Pfeiffer University and a MA in Leadership from Antioch University. Dr. Martin has a passion for improving patient-centered care, improving health equity, and researching and developing innovative strategies to address the social determinants of health to improve the overall health of the community.

What is the ministry challenge keeping you up at night?

The lack of a strong Christian apologetic to defense against the ideas and identity of the world is what keeps me up at night.

What is the greatest hope for God’s work in 2023 you’re dreaming about?

My greatest hope for God’s work in 2023 that I’m dreaming about is to see more Christian thought leaders catalyze their professional experience and their faith to positively lead and and impact the marketplace for the God’s glory.

What is a non-ministry activity that brings you joy and energy?

Working out and traveling

What are the top 1-3 essentials for the Church in America to address to reach those who are spiritually open, but not yet following Jesus?

1. Learn how to effectively defend our faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord over all. 2. Learn how to effectively lead in the marketplace that strengthens displays our Christian witness in such a way that glorifies God and draws people to Christ. 3. Develop models of Christian discipleship that align with the needs of contemporary societal norms.
